This past weekend I finally got the opportunity to partake in the alluring experience of ASIA MYNOR, designed by Larry Andrew. I’ve seen his unique talent grace many runways in the city, but usually mixed in with other notable Milwaukee designers. Not tonight honey! The spotlight was directly on ASIA MYNOR and I loved every minute of it!
I could feel the anticipation as I walked into the industrial ambiance of the Artist Factory, the newest and hottest entertainment venue in the downtown Milwaukee area. Graffiti tagged back drops were placed strategically around the space. The lights were low and the music was turned up. Chatter ceased once Mr. Andrew approached the mic to introduce his S/S 16 collection.
The collection was inspired by the 1970s urban street culture. More specifically, the ladies behind the infamous bad boys of that era. GENIUS! Each model rocked a form fitting look that screamed “I rule the world!” My personal favorites were the two-piece perforated white jogging suit and the body hugging exaggerated sleeve dresses. FIRE!
Gem tone colors and a feminine white palette was the theme of the collection. Smart selection in prints and silhouettes made each piece realistic to wear off the runway. Models strolled around the room stopping at the graffiti tagged backdrops so the audience could get a closer look. Being the nosey person that I am, I really enjoyed that. Thank you ASIA MYNOR for a great fashion night out! I left the event wanting to see MORE!
