The starlets of Hollywood did a wonderful job interpreting the theme of the Met Gala this year. My ooos and aaahs got louder as I scrolled through the photo gallery on my E! Online app. There was some concern that some of the looks would be too literal and offend the Chinese community. In my opinion, the winning looks paid homage to the beauty and elegance of Chinese fashion past and present. Well played!
Here are my head turning trend picks!
GOLD- Genius color choice. We all know the important role that gold plays in Chinese art and culture. I love the simplicity of the silhouettes because let’s be honest, GOLD speaks for itself!
TRADITIONAL- There was a lot of tradition on the carpet, but in a fresh and thoughtful way. Heavy embroidery, high necklines, and kimono silhouettes screamed tradition. While mini lengths, deep Vs, and extreme slits whispered fresh. This is so good I want to cry!
MATURE RED- There were some stunning red looks but I loved how wines and burgundies emerged. To me, red would have been cleshay for this theme. The level of sophistication and class a MATURE RED brought to the embroidery detail was astonishing.
MODERN TAKE – Are you drooling yet? Well this will do it! Wow, is all I have to say. These looks are bold and just so right. The heavy embroidery/sequins on each look really ties it all together.

BARELY EMBELLISHED- It’s Interesting how our three mega bombshells decided to come naked! Look, I’m over this trend! But if I had to take my last glance I’d rather look at these three HOT MAMAS!

COSTUME SAVY- The usual trendsetters choose the costume route and I loved it. Each piece could be in a gallery in Milan. This is the gray area that could have went all the way wrong. Designers kept there muses relavant and respectful.
Last but not least, shout out to the male celebs that focused on the details:)
